Supervisor, Crystal L. Gilster, LPC-S
We all have seasons of life that are more difficult to navigate than others. During those times, having an impartial and nonjudgmental person to talk to can make all the difference. Whether your problems seem big or small, if they are holding you back, counseling may help you overcome those barriers.
I received a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Having successfully passed the National Counselor Examination and all required training, I now serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate under the supervision of Crystal Gilster, LPC-S.
My clinical experience includes time working for a not-for-profit agency where I counseled individuals of a variety of ages and backgrounds. In addition to individual counseling, I provided group counseling. Groups I supported included moms of special needs children, teens with anxiety, and grieving parents.
While I currently work with a variety of individuals aged 13 and up, I especially enjoy working with young adults as they navigate the challenges of “adulting”. Another area of interest for me is working with educators. I have an extensive background as an educator, which allows me particular insight into that highly stressful world. Additionally, having a background as both an adoptee and an adoptive parent, including eight years as a foster parent, I enjoy working with individuals who share those experiences.
My clinical approaches include Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Strength Based Therapy. For those who draw strength from faith-based approaches, Christ-centered counseling is available. Regardless of the therapeutic approach, I offer a counseling partnership that is respectful, collaborative, and committed to wellness.
